Mont + Penny

Puppies due from Monte and Penny

Penny is a light Fox Red color, hence her name. Anyone that meets her notices her beauty. What’s more, she has matured into an excellent hunter. Penny lives with Alec Ossorio. Alec worked for SLK a few years back and is part of our family. Penny is a finished dog and is continuing to get better and better at her game. She trained easily and should pass these traits down to her puppies.

Monte is bold. He thinks he can do anything…which is actually an excellent trait for a gundog to have. Monte has a very strong build. He is big boned, with a large square head. Monte’s personality is very endearing; he enjoys hanging out at the at home and at the office. We became fast friends from the moment he arrived. Monte was raised and trained in Ireland. He was used for a pickup dog for driven shoots but also is a natural waterdog and has no fear. Mont is the “full package”: driven, controlled, strong, handsome, smart, biddable, but also with an off switch. In other words, Monte is “My kind of dog….”

Preacher + Scout

Scout thinks she is 10 feet tall. She is fast. She loves to jump out as far as she can off the dog stand. Scout lives with Daniel Brummett, another SLK trainer. She is his baby and he is proud to take her anywhere and everywhere. Scout is becoming an excellent hunter and with time will be world-class. At home she loves her dog bed and will hang out on it for hours. If you want a driven, yet controllable and loving puppy, you should consider Scout as your Dam.

Preacher is Marty’s personal hunting dog. In Arkansas there has been many times he has been completely surrounded by mallards swimming through the trees, yet he never made a sound or lunged forward. We love Preacher’s ability to work well with the handler, his love of hunting, and his self-control. This boy has a motor as well. He hits the water like a freight train and at the end of the day will sack out on the couch and not move.

Physically Preacher is a beautiful dog. Very powerfully built with a strong head and shoulders. He has a soft mouth and good manners. He also helps Marty train clients when they come to the kennel, as he loves to work for just about anyone willing to throw a bumper. His pups have been excellent, showing all the good traits that we would want in a British Labrador.

Prince and Sioux Puppies Due Soon

Sioux is possibly the most stylish female retriever I have ever seen. I love to watch her work. She loves to go go go. She runs back as hard as she runs out. Sioux spends her duck seasons with hunting guide Garrett Williams of Stuttgart working out of the famed 5 Oaks Lodge. Sioux also lives with Garrett year-round and is a great companion in the home . She’s everything you would want in a hunting retriever. She has no quit. Sioux is 50 pounds and most of it is heart. You cannot go wrong with the puppy out of Sioux.
