I had never hunted with a dog before, but I had determined that I was going to try it out. After researching other types of dogs, I came across Sporting Life Kennels' website, and the descriptions of the dogs, their characteristics, and Marty's training techniques really resonated with me. When I talked to Marty about getting a dog, I mentioned that we would be looking for a great family member first and foremost, and a hunting companion would be a "nice to have." With Lady, we got way more than we could have hoped for. She is one of the most loving, willing, eager to please dogs I have ever seen. She is a steady, focused hunter in the field and she is a perfect house dog all wrapped up in one. In her first season, she picked up 60 ducks in 4 hunts. In her second season, she picked up 130 ducks in 6 hunts, and she learned, listened, and hunted better with each hunt. If there is any complaint, it is that Lady's human didn't hunt enough!

Marty's love for the dogs and his love for what he does is evident right off the bat. His tactics for evaluating each dog and determining the best way to train them brings out the best in each dog and builds their confidence in a gentle and loving way, while still getting the dog to do what he wants them to do. He is great at "training" the owner as well, so that I was able to continue to work with Lady to hone her skills.

I couldn't have asked for a better dog, and thanks, Marty, for bringing Lady into our lives!
